Open KIDD RPG Framework

v0.01

A D6 based Open Source / Creative Commons framework for a kid-friendly and simple RPG.

The idea is that a creative DM can take the framework and apply it to anything a young Player Character (PC) likes.

Character Attributes (KIDD)

• Kindness (Ki)
• Imagination (Im)
• Discovery (Di)
• Daring (Da)

Character Creation:

Allocate 13 points as desired to Character Attributes

"Average" for a person is 3, so PC can choose to be slightly above average at one thing and average at everything else, or sacrifice competence in other areas to become extra good in others.

Actions

Roll a single 6 sided die (D6).

Based on action difficulty, Player must roll:

• Easy: 3 (or higher)
• Medium: 4 (or higher)
• Hard: 5 (or higher)

to succeed.

Based on KIDD scores (Ki, Im, Di, Da), apply modifiers.

Each point below 3, subtract that number from roll. Each point above 3, add that number to the roll.

Examples:

If an action requires Medium Kindness roll (4) and the PC has a Ki score of...

1. : apply -2 modifier.
2. : apply -1 modifier.
3. : no modifiers are applied.
4. : apply +1 modifier.
5. : apply +2 modifier.
6. : apply +3 modifier.

Additional Action Scoring

DMs may adjust Easy, Medium, Hard scoring at their descression. Sometimes it is appropriate to include Very Easy (roll 2 or higher) and Very Hard (roll 6 or higher).
